Who we are
Tiling is the job, not a sideline
AAJ Tiling trades as part of JL Tiling Pty Ltd and works out of Lidcombe in Sydney's inner west. We do wall and floor tiling, waterproofing, bathroom renovations and leaking shower repairs — and that is the whole list. We are not a general building outfit that also lays tile.
Because the team is small, the person who quotes your job is on site while it is being done. That keeps the standard consistent, and it means you have one number to call if anything needs sorting out.
Most of our work comes from repeat clients and word of mouth around Sydney. That only happens if the last job still looks good, so we would rather take the extra hour on a difficult cut than move on quickly.
How we work
Four things we do on every job
Prepare before we tile
Levelling, priming and waterproofing come first. Skipping this stage is the most common reason tile fails a few years later.
Set out the cuts
We mark the layout so full tiles land where the eye goes and awkward cuts end up out of sight, not in the middle of your wall.
Leave it clean
Grout haze off, silicone neat, offcuts and rubbish taken away. The site gets swept at the end of every day, not just the last one.

Standards
Built to the codes that matter
Tiling and waterproofing in NSW are not just a matter of taste — they are covered by Australian Standards, and wet areas in particular are checked against them. We work to those requirements as a matter of course.
- AS 3958 — installation of ceramic tiles
- AS 3740 — waterproofing of domestic wet areas
- AS 4654 — waterproofing for external above-ground use
- NSW Fair Trading licensing requirements for residential work over the statutory threshold
If a job needs a licensed waterproofer or a certificate for a strata or insurance claim, we will tell you up front rather than after the fact.
